Alrighty, the wonderful Anna Baron of The Virtual Link tagged me, so here goes nothing:

  1. Early in my junior year of high school, I took the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test in order to get some extra credit in English class.   I scored in the top ten percentile for high school seniors (so they said) and thus had recruiters calling me day and night - I decided to join the Army as they had some terrific offers for college money.  Three days after graduation, I left for Basic in South Carolina and then went to DLI (Defense Language Institute) in Monterrey, CA.  My recruiters had told me I would be a Spanish linguist - but since I had scored higher on the DLAB (Defense Language Aptitude Battery) than most college graduates, I was put into Arabic.  It was incredibly hard, but a wonderful challenge.  I had a top-secret clearance and once I'd graduated, was sent to Fort Stewart, GA to work in the motor pool.  Go figure!  I left the Army just before Desert Storm.
  2. In the '90s, I was a Ballroom dance instructor.  I was a single Mom struggling with expensive daycare and was tired of administration jobs due to all the politics and such and it seemed exciting and creative - plus, the hours were easier as my Mom could watch my daughter in the evenings and I could spend time with her during the day.  I still love Ballroom - I just wish I had more time to dance as it is the best exercise in the world.
  3. I'm a community theater junkie - I did a lot of acting and choreography (again in the '90s) in local productions - Shakespeare plays are my absolute favorite.  Once, I got to dress like a dominatrix for a production of Richard III and carry a severed head.  <grin>
  4. I'm a left-handed Gemini - love the creative, drawing, painting and I do sudoko to calm my mind in times of stress.
  5. My favorite movies:  Princess Bride, Breakfast Club, Repo Man and Pulp Fiction.  I'm totally addicted to TV: House, Big Brother 8, Dancing with the Stars, the Closer and anything on BBC America.
  6. My husband of 10 years, Vance Bergstrom has been a type 1 diabetic for seven years.  We have two adorable children together, Madison (9) and Falken (6) - so together, we have my daughter Terryn (17), our two children and my step-son, Alex (17).  Two teenagers in the house means gigantic food bills and lots of chaos.
  7. I'm a voracious reader - I love anything by Dean Koontz, but mostly I now read books on marketing and techie stuff like PHP, CSS, Ajax plus the 4-hour work week, the long tail and Getting things done.
  8. I love being a Virtual Assistant in Real Estate - the hours allow me to spend lots of time with my family and the work is always varied and interesting.  But, I hate phones - it's a challenge I'm constantly striving to improve on.  Many know I have had zero success in finding a good VA assistant - probably as most of my projects are too technical in nature for most.  I'm probably a monster to work for as I have high expectations that often aren't realistic.  LOL

Real Estate Geek VA out!
